Private camping near Yellowstone State Park

 riverside chorus campsite

This campsite is for the true adventurers. Nestled right along the Pecatonica River between the water and a restored native prairie, this spot is secluded and full of the chorus of native wildlife.

A two-minute walk from the road we’ll have a wagon for you to get your personal belongings to camp. Parking is available at our main location as well as a shared restroom. Expect to walk 5 minutes to get to these conveniences, but soak up this remote location in peace.

highland meadows campsite

Our Highland Meadows campsite sits right along the Pecatonica River, adjacent to where our ‘famous’ Highland cow Miss Kay and her calf Autumn graze.

This campsite is right off our main parking area and is just a minute walk to the restrooms. You’ll have to carry-in your belongings but we think that is part of the charm. You’ll be secluded, yet close to the creature comforts!

This place is such a gem. Tucked away from everything right on the river. My gf and myself were treated to clear night time sky views of stars and a roaring fire. The most important thing though…the animals. We had two of the cutest cow ‘friends’ who were eager to see what we were doing. Always greeting us in the morning. Now I don’t know if you believe in the cat distribution system but we learned it’s real. We had both day shift and night shift companions. Both the sweetest companions and best campground guards you’ve ever met. I would suggest this space to anyone looking for a quick getaway and a great time. Close to city life if you need a night away from the tent but perfect for just sitting at the river and watching things pass with a cat on your lap. Just don’t book on a day we decide to come back, haha.

We enjoyed a night away making steak, a fire, music and drinks under the stars. The cats, dogs and other animals were a welcome treat.
